16 Mar Embrace a Life of Joy
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Psalm 40: 1-3
This is a Psalm of David that reminds us how important it is to cry out to the Lord and express our dependence on Him for strength and wisdom for each day.
When we come to Him in prayer with a heart of surrender and obedience, He lifts us out of whatever funk we may be in and He puts a new song in our hearts. As we know that we are pleasing the Lord through an obedient heart, we can’t help but sing His praises and have a heart of joy. The end result is that our joy overflows and has an effect on the people we are influencing for Him.
These words challenge me to remember to start each day with the kind of prayer that cries out to the Lord and asks Him for His strength and the power of His Spirit and wisdom.
As we are filled with His Spirit, there is a supernatural joy that comes that inspires us to share with others about Jesus. Is your heart full of His joy? Are you surrendering your days to Him? Cry out to Him in prayer and He will answer and give you His peace.
Thank You, Lord Jesus for coming and filling me with Your Spirit. Give me a new song today and fill my heart with Joy. Help me to overflow with your love and peace so that others may come to know You!
