01 Aug True Rest and Hope are Found in God
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Psalm 62: 5-8
The Psalmist declares that true rest and genuine hope is only found in coming to God. God is the one who brings us salvation and confidence for every day. This salvation is not just referring to the gift of eternal life and the confidence of heaven as our future home. It also refers to the wholeness that God gives us for every day life.
As we put our hope and faith in Him, He will be faithful to sustain us, guide us, and empower us to live life in such a way that we can realize all of His blessings and partake in the fulfilling assignments that He gives us to extend His love and life to others. We can trust in Him at all times and we can pour out our hearts to Him in fervent prayer, asking for His wisdom and blessing to touch us and to help us when we most need it.
My heart is to be a man of rest and hope in these days. I know that is available to me as I put my whole trust in the Lord and pour out my heart to Him daily for the working of His Spirit in every area of my life.
I see in these verses our loving Heavenly Father’s concern for us and willingness to help us in our time of need. I need to set my heart to seek Him, to worship Him and pour out my heart to Him so that I can receive all of his strength, rest and hope. He gives me wisdom for each day to live for Him fully and to make a difference in the lives of everyone around me.
Dear Heavenly Father, I set my heart to seek after You and I trust You in all that you’re doing in me and through me. I pour out my heart to You this day and ask for your blessing upon my life, your wisdom to walk in your grace and love, and for your anointing to empower me to fulfill your purposes for my life. Come Lord Jesus and fill me with your Spirit that I may please you in all things and be effective for You in every assignment you’re giving me. I choose to trust and hope in You this day.
