12 Apr The Power of Christ Can Rest on You
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12: 14-15
Paul refers to some kind of thorn in the flesh that he asked to be removed, but God answered with these words about dealing with personal weakness. So Paul comes to terms with the fact that when he faced his own weaknesses, that’s when it was an opportunity for Christ’s power to rest on him all the more.
We all have to deal with certain challenges and weaknesses in our lives, and it’s always an opportunity for us to choose to be dependent on God’s Spirit and trust in Christ’s power.
I can really relate to what Paul was going through. I am well aware of some of the shortcomings in my own life, and I am inspired by these words to become all the more dependent on Christ’s power.
We can all take time to be in Christ’s Presence, and we can do that as we read His Word, as we pray, and as we softly worship Him each morning. As we do that, Jesus is faithful to fill us with His Spirit as we ask for that fresh touch of the anointing of God’s Spirit. Know this day, that regardless of the challenges and adversity you face, that Christ’s power can rest on you this day. Ask Jesus to fill you with His Spirit and trust that He will energize you for this day.
Lord Jesus, come fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me to rise above the human condition of self sufficiency in order to walk in your Spirit and allow your power to rest on me in practical and powerful ways.
