19 Jan God Wants to Give You His Peace
As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”
Jesus weeps over Jerusalem because He sees the coming destruction that was to happen when the Romans came to destroy Jerusalem in 70 A.D. These are prophetic words that are fulfilled after Jesus’ death and resurrection. He weeps over Jerusalem because of the multitudes who could not recognize that Jesus was the Prince pf Peace. They didn’t recognize the visitation of God in the person of Jesus Christ.
The miracle of the incarnation is that God came to earth in the person of Jesus, but many rejected Him. There is a visitation of God’s Spirit that we can experience every day by coming to God in prayer and letting Him speak to us through His Word. Jesus weeps over America because of the multitudes of people who do not recognize what would bring them peace. Jesus weeps over every country where people are missing out on a visitation of His Spirit.
I don’t want to miss the time of God’s coming to me. He wants to visit with me each day as I spend time in His Presence and in His Word. There is a dimension of peace that will only come to me when I know I have been in His Presence, being filled with His Spirit and receiving life-giving and encouraging words.
I know it makes a difference in my life when I spend time with Jesus. He softens my heart, He forgives me, He helps me to be sensitive to others, and He shows me how to live for Him each day.
Thank you God for speaking to me this day. I trust in your faithfulness to reveal your will to me and to guide me in the way you want me to go. Lord Jesus, come fill me with your Spirit. I trust that by the power of your Spirit I will experience your peace and joy as I serve You and walk with You today.
