19 Oct Blessing Comes in God’s Correction
“Blessed is the one whom God corrects;
so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
For he wounds, but he also binds up;
he injures, but his hands also heal.”
Job 5: 17-18
These words remind us that we serve a God who loves us so much that He will correct us at times when we need it. His correction can come if we are listening closely to Him and being faithful to open our hearts to His voice.
But if we have hardened our hearts simply by ignoring those times of prayer and spending time reading His Word, then sometimes His correction will come through circumstances. It is much better for us to incline our hearts to hear Him daily and listen to Him closely so that we will be swift and ready to receive His course corrections for our lives.
I am challenged to draw close to the Lord every day so that I can hear His voice and receive His loving correction when I need it. He is helping me to be teachable and open-hearted to His voice and to respond to His direction for my life.
It is far better for me to learn the lessons He wants to teach me through His wisdom, rather than learning the lessons through the hard knocks of circumstances and the results of poor choices. I know that as I am quick to listen and respond to what the Lord would have me do, then His corrections won’t have to come as often!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me so much that you would correct me at times. Help me to be open to hear those difficult words that would save me from much trouble. Come Lord Jesus and fill me with your love and your Spirit. Help me to hear your voice and help me to be a blessing to the people in my life this day.
