23 Mar God Will Empower You to Be Successful
14 The people of Joseph said to Joshua, “Why have you given us only one allotment and one portion for an inheritance? We are a numerous people, and the LORD has blessed us abundantly.”
15 “If you are so numerous,” Joshua answered, “and if the hill country of Ephraim is too small for you, go up into the forest and clear land for yourselves there in the land of the Perizzites and Rephaites.”
16 The people of Joseph replied, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the plain have chariots fitted with iron, both those in Beth Shan and its settlements and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”
17 But Joshua said to the tribes of Joseph—to Ephraim and Manasseh—“You are numerous and very powerful. You will have not only one allotment 18 but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.” Joshua 17: 14-18
The two tribes of Joseph were given rich land that was vast but needed to be conquered and developed. But these tribes were afraid to drive out the inhabitants and take possession of the land.
Joshua speaks to them and says that though it may be a challenge, they would be able to do it because they were numerous and powerful. There’s something to be said about having confidence in the Lord in all that He’s called us to do. Every one of us have challenges and obstacles in our way that at times may prevent us from realizing all the promised blessings that God wants us to experience. But it is important to press through and persevere and know that with God’s help, we can experience all that God wants us to receive in terms of His blessings and purposes for our lives.
Sometimes it takes hard work to press through and attain to all that God wants us to experience in terms of blessing, wisdom and insight for each day. Going God’s way isn’t always the easiest but I have discovered that when I choose to obey Him and honor Him with my life, He gives me the strength to follow through and tackle some of the tough challenges in life.
I know that God has promised me fruitfulness and success as I follow Him and enter into the challenges He has for me. I know that some of the successes will only come through consistent and faithful prayer that sets in motion His plan and prepares me for each day. I set my heart to be a man of prayer in these days, knowing that I can only be fruitful and successful when I rely on His strength and wisdom.
Thank You Lord for helping me to see the ways that you want me to fulfill your purposes in my life these days. Come Lord Jesus and fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I can bless people and be the pastor you’re calling me to be. I humble myself before you this day and ask for your blessing and power on my life. I need You this day. Give me the words to say that will encourage others today.
