13 Mar Christ is to be Formed in You
My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, Galatians 4: 19
Paul was writing to the church in Galatia to warn them of false teachers and false doctrine. But his words of concern show his passion for wanting these people to become like Christ in all things.
Here you have the heart of a pastor/shepherd/leader who cares so much for the people that he describes his work and labor as if it were like the pains of childbirth. He’s working hard on their behalf, through his prayers, his letters and his example. It’s a great lesson for all of us that our example of Christlikeness is powerful in influencing others to come to know Jesus Christ and grow into all their God-given gifts and destiny.
I am reminded here of how crucial my prayers and labors are in being instrumental in helping the people I pastor to become all that God has intended them to become.
Who we are becoming is just as important as what we are actually doing with our lives. Action is important in obeying the Lord, but His Christlikeness should always be in motion and growing in our lives. Are you becoming like Christ in your attitude and actions? Are there people who God is calling you to labor for in prayer and in encouragement that still need to come to know Christ and realize their destiny in Him?
Thank You, Lord Jesus for helping me to become more like You each day. I set my heart to pray for the people that You have entrusted to my care. I trust You for your wisdom as to how I can best invest my time and my energy in helping people to trust in You and to become like You.
