13 Apr Be Complete in Him
Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13: 11-14
The Apostle Paul is encouraging the Corinthians to be made complete and to attain to a maturity in Christ that is evidenced by God’s love and peace.
This being made complete happens as we embrace a walk with Jesus that is surrendered to His will on a daily basis. Paul wrote in another place in one of his letters that “you are complete in Him;” which means to find your completeness and sense of worth and satisfaction in following and serving the Lord Jesus. I find these days that when people don’t find their completeness and fulfillment in Jesus, they will, by default, look for fulfillment and happiness in the things of this life, and often become addicted to some substance or pursuit, or obsessed with a certain person.
I have found great peace in following Jesus! There’s peace in my marriage, peace with my children, who are now grown and thriving in their own careers, and peace in pastoring God’s people.
The daily discipline of prayer and reading God’s Word keeps me on track in living for Jesus and hearing His voice. God is so good, and He is faithful to lead us and guide us every day. Are you finding your completeness in Jesus? He leads us to love humbly and with great grace and compassion.
Thank you Lord Jesus for coming and filling me with your Holy Spirit this day. Help me to be a Christlike example to the people I am with today. I set my heart to honor You with my words, my attitudes and my actions. Lord, help me today to honor You and to confirm in my heart the ways of God for this day.
